Senior Sectionals was a challenging meet for the SSC Senior Swimmers. The weather was cold in the AM and much of the competition prepared for peak performance were as we were hitting the the meet still tired and looking at PNS Champs and the meets beyond as our peak. Our goal coming into Sectionals was to race with the best and perform at the highest level possible. Execution of pre-race routine and focus on technique was the expectation. The kids did extremely well and left the meet with 9 new...

SSC 12 and under had two great meets June 26-27th. In total, we had 98 completed swims, with 77% PR’s (personal records) with 40 first swims, 35 drops and 23 adds. This is even more impressive as many swimmers swam the same events only 2 weeks prior. It is particularly gratifying to see all of these youngsters, most of them only with a few months experience, do so well. At the WEST invite: John Cramer, just off a bout with the pneumonia, and missing a couple of weeks, managed a...
Age groupers has a fabulous meet at the summer spectacular, with swimmers setting PR’s (personal records) 89% or the time. We had 54 first swims, 45 dropped times, and only 14 adds. Every single swimmer had something to be proud about. I was especially happy to see only 1 DQ, and that was due to a false start. No one missed their events, and enthusiasm was high. Great job to the swimmers, parents, and coaches. Here is a summary: (Note LC= Long Course) Maggie Arneson swam her first LC meet,...
Elli Straume set three team records at the summer spectacular. She beat the 100 breast record by an impressive 6 seconds, posting a 1:54.32. She reset her own 50 breast time at 50.11. She also added a 100 back record at 1:43.20. Since Elli will not turn 9 until the fall, she is likely to be on the record board again soon. Equally impressive, Shelby Lee dropped 3.65 seconds from his 100 back time, set only last month, to break the team record in the 100 back and made a...
