Schedule Change at Mariner
Attention SRST Families,
This schedule change affects those practicing at Mariner HS only.
Here is a link to the new schedule:

This schedule is effective starting Monday, March 3rd. I want to take a few lines and explain why this is happening and what some of the benefits are.
This schedule change is motivated by the following factors:
- We are losing money in our swimming lesson program because it is too late in the evening.
- HS boys are coming back to the program and continuing to run the Senior Group out of 2 lanes will no longer work.
- AG1 and 2 are growing and with 2 lanes we are running out of space.
- Dryland attendance has declined by having it after the water practice.
- We are losing valuable water time when swimmers don't get in the pool on time.
- Senior swimmers who are teaching lessons are missing key aspects of the main training set each day.
The new schedule addresses each of these concerns. So to summarize benefits:
- Our swim lesson program will grow and we will increase income by being earlier.
- Our Senior and AG programs will both move from just 2 lanes to 3 each; this is a huge benefit.
- Dryland attendance should hopefully see a dramatic increase; this will have great impact on our swimming performances over the season.
- Senior swimmers who are doing lessons will miss out mostly on dryland and some skill/warm-up activities, but they will already be in their suits and thus get probably 10-15% more water time with no interruption in the main set. Dryland will have to be done at home for those teaching lessons.
Additional notes:
For Seniors, weights will be eliminated. This is not a huge concern. A more endurance focused dryland session with med balls and tubing better serves the demands of Long Course swimming. As you can see from looking at the schedule there is an hour of dryland and water combo work being done at the beginning of every workout. You will also notice that there are two open lanes in the main pool. This is a huge benefit to us running circuit training and getting additional water time. We will be utilizing dryland work, the tank and the lanes during the first hour each day. You will get an incredible workout and have plenty of time to work on skills.
I'm looking forward to this change and please let me know if you have questions.
Special thanks to Cassie White for brainstorming this entire arrangement!!! You are awesome Coach Cassie!
