Junior Nationals is Success!
Junior National Results
Our Top Performer was Alana Pazevic who place 5th in the "B" heat of the 100 Backstroke. Alana's time in the preliminaries broke the SSC club record and was better than the World Championship Trials time standard (which is faster than the standard for the National Championship...very fast). Alana's time puts her as the 11th best in the US for her age. With college only one year away, this is a great position for her to be in. Alana dropped time and broke SSC club records in every race she swam: 100 Back, 100 Fly, 100 Free and 50 FR. Alana now ranks as follows for 17-18 in PNS:
100 Back - 1st Last year's rank in 15-16: 8th
100 Fly - 4th Last year's rank in 15-16: 10th
100 FR - 4th Last year's rank in 15-16: 6th
50 FR - 2nd Last year's rank in 15-16: 5th
Ali Abadi had great performances in the 200 Fly and 200 Free. Ali's time in the 200 Fly destroyed the old SSC club record by almost three seconds and puts him 3rd fastest in the state for his age group and number one in the individual age category of 17. Next year Ali will be the number one recruit in the State for his event, the 200 Fly. Ali's time in the 200 Free moved him up to second on the SSC All-Time Top Ten list, right behind Dan Ferguson. Ali also hit a lifetime best 100 Free in the first 100 of his 200, so all together Ali came away with three personal best times.
Bryan Harvey raced the 100 Fly and was just off his best time from the West Invitational. Bryan's time from the West Invite should be noted as it ranks him as the number one 100 Fly swimmer in the state under the age of 19. Bryan's time at that meet also ranks as 10th best in the nation in the 15 year old age group and is now our SSC club record. Bryan did have a best time in the final race of the meet, the 400 M.R. in which he led off with a new club record in the 100 Backstroke.
Also swimming in the meet in our 400 M.R. was Bramon Yotty (Free) and Liam Sosinsky (Breast). Both Liam and Bramon turned in good splits and helped to cap off an outstanding Junior Nationals. Our Butterfly swimming in that relay was Ali Abadi.
