Junior National Blog

The SSC Senior group had a pretty rough PNS Champs meet.  Some folks were coming off of injury and illness and some just didn't feel good.  As a result there was a lot of pressure on the Junior National meet for redemption.  Of all the swims for us at Juniors, the most important was the first swim of the meet.  This honor belonged to Ali Abadi and he did not disappoint.  In warm ups Ali looked great, but I could tell he was nervous and maybe not "feeling it".

Fortunately Ali has put in a strong effort in his mental development and was able to bring out a great performance, which resulted in a time drop of just over 2.5 seconds.  Ali's time of 2:07.0 in the 200 fly is a new SSC Club record and was just a few hundredths of a second above the short course Senior National standard.  In what was the most competitive Junior National field ever, Ali finished 75th out of 150; right in the middle of a great pack and in perfect position to come in as a Senior and make and impact in finals.

Tomorrow we look forward to Alana Pazevic in the 100 FR and a couple different time trials...stay tuned!
