Changing Swim Groups

The goal of the SSC coaching staff is to appropriately challenge each swimmer and provide a progressive development plan to best ensure improvement through the years.  This is a long term approach and errors on being conservative and safe.  Many factors are considered in group placement decisions.  Some considerations include:

Emotional Maturity
Social Adaptation
Commitment & Goals
Age 
Skill Sets & Conditioning
Meet Participation & Speed
Leadership Development
Knowledge of The Sport

Decisions to move swimmers from one group to the next are the sole responsibility of the SSC coaching staff.  All of the above topics are discussed and pros/cons are weighed.  In most cases (but not all) coaches will try and move swimmers from one group to the next in coordination with swim seasons (Sept./Dec./Mar.).  Parents with questions regarding group placement of their swimmer are welcome to set an appointment with their direct coach.
